Winter Solstice 2012

Happy Winter Solstice from Sayulita, Mexico!

This day also marks the first day of winter, the start of longer days, the end of the Mayan calendar,  the end of the Piscean Age, the beginning of the Age of Aquarius.   For some this day represents an energetic shift,  a new time for women’s leadership, a time for collaboration, creativity, and non-linear thinking.

I feel it’s another opportunity to continue to do my part in creating a peaceful world and to practice Ahimsa (non violence).

In light of the violence in today’s world, I’d like the words from the song, Age of Aquarius, to come alive:

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius
Aquarius! Aquarius!

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius!

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius

The Age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!

Let the sun shine, Let the sun shine in The sun shine in Let the sun shine

Below is a short slide show from yesterday and today, Winter Solstice in Sayulita, set to beautiful music played by Leo, a musician we met today at the Friday market:

Feliz Navidad to you! We leave this place we’ve been renting at for the last 4 nights with our hosts, LA and Martin. Our casa is called Casa Poesia and LA and Martin are poets and salsa makers (sold at the Friday market). We had a poetry night on the rooftop with a million stars twinkling. Poetry night was great (my idea to do it and it went over really well) Now on to a two bedroom rental closer to town where nephew John and his girlfriend Jenna will join us later this evening after their arrival in Mexico! We can’t wait to see our sweethearts. love, Fran

    Hi Frannie and Rick –
Thanks for sharing the slides and music. They warm me right up after spending a cold wet day working on trails at Larrabee State Park. Fortunately Santa showed up and brought some great treats just as the sun came out in the afternoon.
