One Fine Weekend in April

Sometimes photos say it all!

Tulips

Tulips: I spent a fine day yesterday on Vashon Island at Karen Biondo’s farm.  Her farm is alive and buzzing with abundant life force.  Even her tulips seem to sing “Spring”!

Other than growing vegetables and fruits, running a vegetable stand, raising chickens, goats and pigs, making batches of soup using her own organic produce, and selling it to her neighbors, Karen also works at the Vashon Farmer’s Market.  In this photo, Earth-Steward-Farmer Karen Biondo stands next to her beautiful pizza oven! You can find Karen and Leslie Shattuck making and selling pizza at the Vashon Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.

These tulips have a think red outline on each petal! Pure magic.

Oink! Karen shows me her muddy pigs. I learned they don't have sweat glands and that's why they like to wallow in the mud or in puddles (to keep cool!!)

I taught a yoga session at Island Yoga Center on Vashon and then had a great dinner outdoors back at Karen's farm. Leslie, John, and Karen in this photo.

And today, I delighted in the cherry blossoms. The blossoms that fall look like PINK SNOW!

And here she is: Linda! Linda is surrounded by her 4 dogs. Linda's passion in life is rescuing dogs that have been abandoned or put in kill shelters simply because they are elderly or blind or sick or have been hit by a car and have a broken hip (you are looking at those very real stories in this photo!). I am blessed 100 fold because I am surrounded by the most remarkable people!
