Romero Canyon Trail

I continue to enjoy the warmth, sunshine, and beauty of the desert.  Today Jane and I hiked 6.5 miles (1500 ft. elevation gain) on the Romero Canyon Trail in Catalina State Park.  The trail leads to the Romero Pools.  I know I am used to rushing streams and the lush ancient rain forests of the Pacific Northwest, but this Northwest Washington gal did mock or laugh at the shallow “pools” of water deep in the canyon.  No!  Instead, I squealed with excitement when I first spotted the water because the area around the water was so pleasantly cool and the vegetation so green!  It’s just so surprising to see pools of water and waterfalls in the desert.  Here are photos from the Romero Canyon Trail in Tucson:
