We are fast approaching Summer Solstice. This is my favorite time of the year. I love the light, the sunshine, the warmth, and the late sunsets. Little Renaissance is alive with climbing roses in full bloom. The garden appears to thrive on neglect and I marvel at how lush the greenery is. It has been so warm out that the plums look like they might be ready to harvest in a week or two!

The days are long this time of year. This past weekend has been filled with sun drenched days. There is a lovely group who comes out to Little Renaissance twice a year for a yoga retreat weekend filled with creative yoga sessions, lunch out in the garden, long walks on the beach, great company, and lively conversations. This was the weekend we shared with them. So much fun! Such a great tradition. (Just ask me about booking a weekend with us!.)

Fran, We finally made our trip to Sicily and it was, by far, the best ever! We had several cooking classes. Walked and hiked and met so many wonderful people. I thought of you and your fantastic photos of your trip there.
I do so enjoy your blogs and the fantastic photos. You and Rick enjoy a wonderful life. These last photos of your beach front driftwood etc…makes me want to be there. I should get back to yoga, I know. But have had a recurring problem with pain deep in the buttox and numbness and tingling in my feet. Had to take a tennis ball to sleep on during our trip to Sicily. It really helped..my primary physician is the one who told me to roll on a tennis ball to get right to the place where the pain seemed to originate. A fellow ski club friend told me the same!
Just wanted to encourage you to keep sending your wonderful blogs!!

Hi Beth! Thank you so much for your encouragement on my blogging! You and a few others have expressed your continued interest in my blog writing. I love blogging, love photography and writing meaningful thoughts that come from life’s experiences. And I am so HAPPY you got to experience SICILY!! Sicily is the Spice of Italy and one of my favorite places on earth. It is a melting post of ancient civilizations. One Sicilian told me that you can dig a hole ANYWHERE and find an ancient tell-tale piece of something from the past, be it a shard of pottery or an unbroken amphora or a Roman gold coin! Made me want to dig a hole right then and there, but I was too busy looking at Homer’s Wine Colored Sea and the smoke plumes rising from Mt. Etna against a brilliant orange sky! -Fran
