Iceland

Yes, I am here in Iceland!  The flight did not feel so long.  I couldn’t sleep on the flight until the very last hour.  When I awoke, there was an impossibly red sunrise greeting my disoriented brain.  Julie and I rented a car and spent a good part of the day going from site to site to make sure all is in order for the retreats.  We have lots more work to do the next two days!! The first week officially starts on the 19th, though everyone will arrive at the Holt Hotel by the 18th.

I am so happy to be at Minniborgir Cottages.  This place is more beautiful than I imagined. Every person we have met is friendly and warm-hearted.  The weather is a mix of everything today.  There are dramatic clouds in the sky against a back drop of blue.  The sun is warm and yet the wind whips ferociously at times.  There are Alaskan aspens planted around the cottages and the wind plays with the leaves.  How I love the sound of wind whisking through aspen leaves!

Orvar asked if we’d like him to fill the hot tub and we said YES!  I asked him how long it would take to fill it up and warm it…he said…ABOUT 20 minutes!  He undid a plug and voila, steaming hot water coming in from deep within the earth filled the tub in no time at all.   Julie is already soaking in the hot spring water and I will join has as soon as this blog post is out.

Some landscape photos from a land so beautiful, from a very tired yogini who really wants to soak in hot spring mineral water…
